Illinois Radon Inspections
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has designated 3 Zones based on inspection and test data from the detection of radon levels found in homes.
- Zone 1 (High levels of radon – Expected to be above 4.0 pCi/L)
- Zone 2 (Moderate levels of radon – Expected to be between 2.0-4.0 pCi/L)
- Zone 3 (Low levels of radon) – Expected to be below 2.0 pCi/L)
Did you know that throughout most of the state of Illinois, radon levels are comprised of Zone’s 1 (high) and 2 (moderate)?
You can reference Illinois county radon data as well as zip code data for northern Illinois with radon information provided by the EPA with our Interactive Map to determine expected radon levels in homes by county.
While the presence of high levels of radon gas can potentially be dangerous, steps can be taken to minimize radon omissions, which all starts with testing for the gas with a radon inspection.
